The Common Loon (Gavia immer) is Minnesota's State Bird, much of my photography for this beautiful and graceful bird is taken from my canoe, however I did have an opportunity to set up my blind on land because a pair of Loons set up nesting duty on a small island not more than 50 feet from shore. Over the next three years I was able to capture some very difficult behavior of this bird.
