Impressions of Nature

Photography by John Pennoyer

  1. Birds

Grouse Family

All of these images are members of the "Grouse" family and are considered game birds by many states. These images were all taken during the spring when the male grouse does their "dancing" on a lek to attract a female. The male Ruffed Grouse chooses a log to do his "drumming" to attract a female. All images were taken using a photo blind. Ruffed Grouse/Bonasa unbellus--------- Sharptail Grouse/Tympanuchus phasianellus-------- Greater Prairie Chicken/Tympanuchus cupido
